De Anza at League finals
Milo Cornejo and the doubles team of Doan and Guzman won their first round matches at St. Mary's College. The doubles decidedly in two sets. Cornejo battled for two long split sets and then found his groove to win the last set 6-0. In the second round, it was another three setter for Cornejo, and had it not been for massive debilitating leg cramping, he could have pulled off that one too. Doan and Guzman made it to the next round by Doan's fierceness at the net and Guzman's consistent groundstrokes from the baseline and strong serve.
The team of Ward and Saelee got a tough draw against a seasoned Berkeley team and fell in two sets. Sophomore Le played one of his best matches ever against Hercules' #1 player. He held him off for almost two hours, getting to lots of duece points, but couldn't claim the victory.
It was a good season for the De Anza Dons, they not only improve every year, but are some of the nicest guys around!
